Laughter

March 22, 2012

Photography by Ben Rasmussen. Assignment by Project Exposure.

Waking up early with anticipation, as I’ve done every morning this week, I’m delighted to see how this project is progressing. As I’ve said before, the role of Project Exposure is to create a long lasting collaboration between a photographer and a non profit. We act as a sort of business development service by providing seed money that sparks the ideas, nurtures the relationship and then gets out of the way, so that that collaboration can grow and develop on it’s on without us. That’s exactly what I see developing in Guatemala this week as Julie and Ben make this their own. I can’t wait to see how the project will develop once they get home.

Stay tuned!

“Laughing is a reaction to certain stimuli. Traditionally, it is considered a visual expression of happiness, or an inward feeling of joy. It may ensue from hearing a joke, being tickled, or other stimuli. Laughter is a part of human behavior regulated by the brain, helping humans clarify their intentions in social interaction and providing an emotional context to conversations. Laughter is used as a signal for being part of a group — it signals acceptance and positive interactions with others. Laughter is sometimes seen as contagious, and the laughter of one person can itself provoke laughter from others as a positive feedback.”
